The C

I feel strange about my c-section scar. It just plain feels weird. Not all my nerve endings have come back - so I have this general numbness all around. Nothing horrible, just enough to be, well, strange. And the kooky thing is that some of the hair "down there" hasn't begun to grow back properly. It's just a patch. ??? I don't get that. I have to say that the enormity of what happened to me is finally sinking in. I sort of blew everything off. A big WHATEVER!

It sort of freaks me out now. I had major surgery. It's kind of a big deal. It's time I come to terms with it. Now that I think about it, I've been treating my entire abdominal area very gingerly the past 10+ weeks. Like I'm afraid something is going to explode. So I want to start regular exercising and core strengthening. It'll be okay. No need to freak out. I have healed. Right? Who knows what's going on there.

In other related topics, I'm paranoid about getting my period. Usually I'm well aware of when it's going to come. But now, I'm flying blind here. It could come out of nowhere, when I least expect it. I know when you breastfeed, it can delay it from returning, but why do I have the feeling that that won't be the case for me. I mean, I pretty much bled post partum for six weeks (although I didn't have that white/yellow discharge they say you can get). We'll see.

I better go see what Miz Thang is up to. She's been napping for quite some time. Nearly three hours. I can't get over how she seems to get bigger virtually over night. She's pretty amazing!

Happy Friday on a Thursday

Current song: Shut up and let me go by the Ting Tings
Current mode: sleepy

The weekend officially begins tonight after work. Yippy! Heading down to the beach should be fun, although it does prove some challenges. I just don't know how everything will play out with the Peanut. It'll be her very first overnight somewhere other than her house. I'm a wee bit concerned about her going back to the Pack 'n Play. She's been sleeping so well in her crib. It'll be a test to see how flexible she is. Although, how flexible can someone her age be? Really, it's more of a test to see how flexible I am.

Got some bills to pay, so I better get to that instead of this. Then I have to make a list of what we need to bring with us this weekend. It's going to be a looong list.

Visit

The in-laws just stopped by for a "baby fix." They haven't seen the Peanut for weeks. She's grown considerably since. Grandpops called her a "fatty". Great, we are already having body image-related issues at 2.5 months. What's going to happen at 14?

Anyway, she's down for an afternoon nap - yay! So, I shall not waste my time doing facebook stuff or even this blog thing. I'm going to use my time more wisely by:

1. plucking my eyebrows
2. finishing laundry
3. making a turkey meatloaf for dinner
4. polishing my toenails

PS I can't wait for my spousal unit to come home from work!!!!! I miss him like crazy.

Nap Time

Miss Thang is stirring... time to switch into mommy mode!

My First Post

Since I'm feeling a tad on the isolated side lately, I thought it might be nice to reach out to the universe via the Internet. Things are going well and all today... Peanut is napping and has been since 10:55am. Gosh. Now I worry if she's napping TOO long. Should I get her up? Uh, negative on that. I need to remember my mantra: never wake a sleeping baby.

You know, come to think of it, I don't feel isolated. That was the wrong word to use. I don't know how I feel. Happy and tired are a good place to start. Overwhelmed. Awed. A wee bit confused. I know for sure that I have a lot of thoughts bubbling around in my head. I'm hoping this will be a useful avenue for me to get this stuff out - mainly so that it doesn't take me over an hour to fall back to sleep after Peanut's 4am feeding.

And it's dumb stuff, too, what floats around. Lists of what I need to do and get. TV shows I watched. That sort of thing. It's annoying. I don't need the world to know what I think and feel... I just need to do this for myself.
