New food group: Solids

The Peanut started solids yesterday. Single grain oatmeal mixed with breast milk. The look on her face was pretty priceless. "What the hell is this mushy crap in my mouth?" She managed to eat a few teaspoons of it - and this morning, too - instead of wearing most of it.

We interrupt this post to have a dance around the den with the Peanut to New Order's Blue Monday playing on BBC1!!!!

We need to figure out what the next step is. A veggie of some sort, I suppose. Peas? Sweet potatoes? Meanwhile, I'm attempting to wean her from her night feeding. We all could use the sleep. So far, I haven't encountered too much success. But, she'll go seven hours now, instead of six. It's amazing how much that extra hour means.

Yeah, X-man was unhappy with the cereal until the fourth feeding. There was a huge difference between him spitting it out and him getting excited about it and opening his mouth. There are videos on his website: http://web.mac.com/mactroll

Since we started him on cereal at 4 months, we did just cereal for 4 weeks and then introduced vegetables. I chose green beans. Mostly because MacTroll hates anything that's green, so I thought maybe this might counteract that down the line.

As it turns out, they don't respond to the real food like they respond to the baby food, most times. But X-man still eats green beans and peas and carrots and corn and prunes, but he wants nothing to do with squash or sweet potatoes, which he LOVED as an infant. Go figure.

LOL, the word verification for this comment is "silly."
